Tariff
2007
Over the years we have found that many of our guests
can't always manage a huge breakfast, and therefore the following
prices are inclusive of the - don't worry! - you can still have a
cooked breakfast, just not the full on overfacing type, just in
case you may have enjoyed a rich/large meal the night before. (We're
simply not happy charging for food that isn't consumed or really
wanted.)
On the other hand if a is all part of your holiday, then please
see our comprehensive menu for which we charge a small supplement
of £4.

Sometimes in the winter we hit a quiet patch, and rather than sit here twiddling our fingers, we have fantastic special offers, such as
4 nights for the price of 3
(midweek between Sun and Thursday)
or even,
reduced prices!
Always worth checking either by phone or email.
Winter and Autumn can be spectacular here - whilst the rest of the country may be sitting under a rain cloud, or shivering in freezing fog, we have our own little climate - blue skies, crisp clear air -
the walking's wonderful and the views stunning....
and if it does get a bit miserable now and then - whoo hoo! time to hole up in the nearest pub for a sandwich and a beer next to a huge log fire.
Christmas shopping can be fun too, we have some lovely specialist shops, Christmas Fairs at local stately 'omes - much much nicer than plodding round a shopping centre with the madding crowds!
we're only 3 and a bit hours from London on the train - try virgin special offers quite often you can travel first class midweek for less than the price of dinner in the city - and the food and alcohol are included in the price of your ticket. What a great way to start a special break!

Handy
notes:
We have ample, safe, off-road parking in a very private drive, although
cars and property are left at guests' own risk.
We
try to be as flexible as possible, but as we don't have a receptionist
to man the door, we'd be very grateful if you could please time
your arrival for after 4.3Opm! Of course please don't hesitate to
ask if you need to check in earlier and we'll do our best to help.
We
love having families to stay, and children over 10 are most welcome.
However, we're not too keen on the house wrecking kind! - and with
the greatest respect, we do ask that parents consider our other
guests and that their children are quiet and well-behaved.
Non
smoking guests only in the house please - puffers in the bushes
no problem...
Becky
and Sam are two small, people friendly dogs, who although are slightly
rotund (the downside of living in a house where generous visitors
share their breakfast) don't lose their hair, and are NOT
allowed in the bedrooms!

The
Boring Bits - confirming your booking and what happens if you need
to cancel.
If you would like to make a booking, we will ask you to confirm
with your credit card details - receipt of these details means that
you are confirming your booking with us. We will confirm your booking
either in writing or by e-mail - whichever you prefer.
Although
we make a note of the details, and confirm the validity, we don't
debit your card at all, but prefer payment by cheque or in cash
when you leave (the card companies levy hefty surcharges to small
businesses!). However, just like any other hotel or holiday company,
we do have a 3 week cancellation policy, which means that if you
cancel your booking within that time, we will charge the full amount
to your card less £5.00/person/night. We do our very best
to relet the room on your behalf, and if we're successful of course
there will be no charge to your card.
If
you think you may have to cancel your booking, then please do take
out travel insurance. Cancellations should be made personally over
the telephone - please do not leave answer phone or e-mail messages!
Apologies for sounding so draconian, but we've had a few people
let us down in the past, and so we felt we had to be a bit more
professional than simply living in hope that our guests would turn
up! Thanks.
